Cheng Ballet Academy's Youth Ballet Company was founded in 2009 to address the need to establish a professional ballet company for young dancers. Talented students are hand-picked yearly from the academy's general school cohort to undergo professional training in classical ballet and classical-based contemporary dance. Membership in the Youth Ballet Company is by invitation only and there are strict criteria to be met by the students, including full commitment to the rigourous training and performance schedule.
The programme is also a platform through which members build confidence and gain valuable experience through their overseas stints. Through the rigours of training, members learn to be disciplined, focused, patient, determined and humble. The Youth Ballet Company endeavors to establish itself as the pre-eminent youth ballet company in Singapore.
Cheng Ballet Academy, together with its main cohort of dancers and Youth Ballet Company Members are proud to bring you our annual year-end performance. Based on the French-style choreography of Arthur Saint-Léon, this charming ballet features a sparkling divertissement, charming solos, refined ensemble passages, and an ingenious use of national dances. As part of the annual overseas trips to widen our horizons, the Youth Ballet Company had a study visit and took classes with the prestigious Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
